We lay alone.
Together but apart in the same bed.
I stare through the engulfing darkness focusing upon the cracks in the ceiling.
We sit in silence.
My eyes wide with anticipation, yours shut with exhaustion.
We are isolated temporally.
We are off and on at different times of the day, the week, the month.
Our struggle continues as we find it increasingly difficult
to find the golden hour in which we can be one.
